Esther Chik

Esther is a banking and finance lawyer with over 23 years’ experience representing financial institutions and corporate borrowers on a broad range of domestic and cross-border conventional and Islamic banking and finance transactions. She joined Roger Tan & Partners (RTNP) as a partner on 1 January 2026. 

Prior to this, Esther was a Partner in the Finance & Projects Practice Group at Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie. She is experienced in general finance, acquisition finance, project and infrastructure finance, Islamic finance, property development and construction financing, ESG finance, as well as debt capital market transactions involving both conventional and Islamic structures. 

She is trusted by her clients as an experienced lawyer known for her clear and practical approach and is valued by clients for her understanding of their commercial and business needs. Approachable and responsive, she is known for explaining complex issues clearly and delivering work with professionalism and efficiency.

Before joining Wong & Partners, Esther practised with other local law firms and also spent a brief period as a foreign registered counsel with a Singapore law firm. She was RTNP’s managing partner, Datuk Roger Tan’s pupil and associate from October 2001 to June 2006.

Prior to joining RTNP, she served as Project Director at the Sustainable Finance Institute Asia, an independent Singapore-based non-profit organisation, where she worked on sustainability disclosure and reporting initiatives.
